NIKI Mentoring Program is designed to assist Iranian students and recent graduates by pairing them with other NIKI members in order to enhance the Mentee"s professional and knowledge development and plan their careers with the advice of more experienced academics. The Mentoring Program is overseen by the NIKI board which determines the overall program policy, goals and pairings. In addition, each NIKI Office (NIKI-Points) coordinates with the Board to ensure the smooth functioning of the Mentoring Program at the local level.
Both parties should reach a clear understanding of what they expect from each other. They should agree on the frequency, duration, and time and way of contacts, and they should decide whether or not the mentor will have an "open door" policy so as to be available for mentees at any time. Mentees should be encouraged to formulate their career goals clearly, define sharply any problems they perceive and bring specific problems to meetings for discussion. The mentor may wish to ask for some such material in writing.

Mentoring Program Guideline:
The NIKI Mentoring Program is intended to foster a partnership between two individuals built upon trust. The primary focus of the Mentoring Program is to help mentees focus on the development of less tangible skills that ultimately enable individuals to operate effectively. NIKI Mentors should offer insights into the ways that organizations work, how informal networks operate and how they think about the challenges and opportunities mentees encounter. Mentors should provide support and challenge on the situations, issues, and development needs that the mentee raises.
